Comments: Ida A Phillips (Nee: Verbarg) | North Vernon IN | 1901-1920 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph belonging to the VERBARG Family which was taken at the Otto White Studio in North Vernon, IN. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with the woman in the photograph appearing to be in her 20’s or 30’s at the time. Based on limited research I was able to determine that this is a photograph of Ida A. VERBARG and have gathered the following information regarding Ida and her family:
Ida A. VERBARG was b. 5 Aug 1871 in North Vernon, IN to parents Friedrich or Frederick Wilhelm or William VERBARG (1842-1915) and Eva Marie ZIMMER or ZEMMEL (1842-1906). Ida had 6 siblings including George W. VERBARG (1868-1936); Louisa E. VERBARG (b. 1869 or 1870); Charles William VERBARG (1873-1945); Frederick William VERBARG Jr. (1876-1962); Leonard William VERBARG (1878-1965); and Joseph William VERBARG (1881-1958). Ida’s mother Eva was born in Germany, the daughter of Laurene ZEMMEL and Urzla LAUBALAN.
Ida married William Edgar PHILLIPS (1868-1951) on 17 Sept 1895 in North Vernon, IN and they had two daughters Edna Josephine PHILLIPS CORDEN (1899-1980) and Marjorie L. PHILLIPS CORDEN (b. 1903). Ida died 19 Nov 1963 in Seymour, IN and she is buried in the Riverview Cemetery in that city. Both of Ida’s daughters were living in Seymour, IN when their mother passed, she was also survived by her brother Leonard W. VERBARG of Oakland, CA.
I would like to get the photograph back to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.
Thanks,
Shelley
