Comments: Martin Holterud (Nee: ) | Duluth MN United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of Martin HOLTERUD which was taken at the Zenith Gallery in Duluth, MN most likely in the 1880’s. Martin appears to be in his teens or 20’s at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Martin and his family:
Martin HOLTERUD or HALTERUD or HOLTRUD was b. 1863 in Norway, and he immigrated to the USA in 1883 and married Marith or Marit “Mary” LARSEN on 22 Sept 1888 in St. Louis Co., MN. Martin died 3 Dec 1930 in St. Louis County, MN and is buried in the Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
During the 1900 census the family was recorded living in Duluth, MN and Martin was working as a paperhanger. He and Mary were said to have had 9 children but only 3 were living at the time including Mabel, Alfrida, and Ray HALTERUD ages 6, 4, and 2 years old. Edward LARSON the brother to his wife Mary was also living with them.
