Comments: Sophia Pfaff (Nee: Leppla) | Frankfort Station IL United States | 1851-1900 | Comments: I have an old studio photograph of 6 girls including Maggie, Lizzie, Clara, Lydia, Lottie, and Sophie LEPPLA which was taken at the F. W. Michaelis Studio in Frankfort Station, IL. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the girls appearing to be from about 6 years to teens at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:
Margaret “Maggie” LEPPLA was b. Oct 1871 in Illinois to parents Frederick or Friedrich LEPPLA (1838-1917) and Elisabetha or Elizabeth MEISTERLING (1840-1930) who were married 15 Jul 1862 in Odenbach, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany. Maggie was one of 11 children born to this couple including Friederich or Frederick; Charlotta; Elisabeth “Lizzie”; Charlotte; Lewis Julius; Margaret “Maggie”; Sophia Kathryn; Lydia; Charles J.; Paul; and Clara A. LEPPLA, all born between 1862 and 1884.
Maggie married John J. STAFF or STECH (1865-1955) on 15 Oct 1891 in Will County, IL and they had two daughters, Mabel E. STAFF SANGMEISTER (1894-1952) and Vera STAFF (1897-1984). Maggie died 11 Aug 1953 in Frankfort, IL and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, IL.
Elizabeth “Lizzie” LEPPLA was b. 2 Nov 1865 in Bayern, Germany to the same parents and died 13 Jan 1944 in Will County, IL. Lizzie was married to Robert LEPPLA, and they had four children including Emma; Lina; Albert; and William LEPPLA, all born between 1898 and 1909. Lizzie died 13 Jan 1944 in Will County, IL and is also buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, IL.
Clara A. LEPPLA was b. 7 Jun 1884 in Will County, IL to the same parents and married Almond Leopold KRUEGER (1880-1926) on 10 Nov 1914 in Frankfort, IL and they had two children including Almond Leopold KRUEGER Jr. (1917-1962) and Frederic James KRUEGER (1925-1987). Clara died 11 Jan 1976 in Hennepin County, MN and is buried in the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Lydia LEPPLA was b. 18 Jan 1877 in Will County, IL to the same parents and married Fred or Fritz WEINMANN (1877-1909) on 15 or 18 Apr 1901 in Will County, IL and they had a son, Norman Frederick WEINMANN (1902-1969). Lydia died 17 Jan 1903 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, IL.
Charlotte “Lottie” LEPPLA was b. Jul 1866 in Illinois to the same parents and married Alfred A. MOSS (b. 1872) on 12 Sept 1895 in Milwaukee, WI and they had three children including Frederick Elijaha; Myrtle Matilda; and Alfred Charles MOSS, all born between 1897 and 1901.
Sophia “Sophie” Kathryn LEPPLA was b. 8 Nov 1875 or 1876 in Frankfort, IL to the same parents and married William J. PFAFF (b. 1868) on 3 Dec 1895 in Will County, IL and they had 7 children including Arthur W.; William C.; Alice Margaret; Grace Charlotte; Kathryn or Katheryn or Katherine Sophia; Grace E.; and Baby Girl PFAFF, all born between 1897 and 1911. Sophie died 7 Oct 1911 after the birth of her 7th child in Chicago, IL and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort, IL.
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
