The boy died young and the daughter never married. There are no direct descendants. The daughter (who lived in Virginia) inherited whatever Sybil had and then left it to a cousin (who lived in California) who also never married or had children. I can but wonder how the picture ended up in Arkansas. It's amazing that I found the picture on your site. There are not that many people left who even knew who she was.She was one year old on the 1870 Missouri census so that should make the year 1869. She must have been quite a character. I have a copy of a very long letter to her family written when she went up into the wilds of Canada to teach the "red men." I have a note that the first cousin who ended up inheriting her farm wrote and put in a birch bark wastebasket that I have. It says, "About 1900 to 1905 Aunt Sybil took up a homestead claim in the 'Northwoods'. It must have been in Northern Minn. Grandpa made rustic furniture for a cabin she built there where she lived and taught in an Indian school. She made this waste basket of birch bark and it stood by Grandma's chair. I don't know how it happened to be saved when the house burned but it was."
